Stuck or "Dead" Pixel on an LCD Monitor PDF Print E-mail
If your LCD Screen has a stuck pixel, have no fear. Your monitor isn't necessarily ruined. It may be malfunctioning, here are some tips to give your Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) a little jump start. This stuck or "dead" pixel can often be fixed.

  1. Check Google for software solutions for this problem. Yes, SOFTWARE can fix this problem in many cases. The software will rapidly flash color patterns to "re-energize" the stuck pixel.
  2. If that doesn't help (or you don't want to try it yet)
  3. Find a damp cloth, (you wouldn't want to scratch your precious monitor)
  4. Put pressure on the area with the stuck pixel. Only on that area. Be careful not to press too hard on the monitors screen.
  5. Now, without taking pressure off of the screen, turn it on.
  6. Now, remove the pressure, and hopefully the stuck pixel will be unstuck.

A few thoughts.

  • This works for lots of people, but not everyone.
  • Now remember,  "stuck" pixels tend to be red, blue, green, or white..... black pixels are "dead" pixels. This technique won't work for dead pixels.
  • Another technique, that some people report having luck with is to gently massage the stuck pixel.
  • Hopefully these tips will work. If not, consult your manufacturer. Hopefully they'll have tips for your specific monitor or can replace your defective monitor.
